Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...!

Australia Day is tomorrow!



I love Australia Day. The patriotism, and the fact that everyone is so happy that we live in such a great country.


Tomorrow is also going to be a scorcher! I heard it was something like 42 degrees! Which might just cancel my plans I had for tomorrow, maybe.

My friend Emily and I have a little tradition..[ which was only started last year ], we like to get dressed up in Australian paraphernalia and make signs that say "HONK! If you love Australia!!" and parade down town with these signs and count how many HONKS we get.

Well, last year we got more than 100 HONKS in the first hour. Then we stopped counting.

It was fun and random and I think people just loved it, and I hope we get to do something similar tomorrow but we'll have to see just how hot it gets.

How do you spend Australia Day? Do you spend it by getting smashed and sunburnt [which I'll eventually get sick of hearing about on Facebook within the next few days]..? Or do you spend it spreading the love to your fellow Aussies...?

Catch Up

Well, I would say it is time to dust the cobwebs off this blog and get it back in order. It has been quite a while and I'm sorry about that. A lot has happened since I last wrote on here, so here is a quick catch up....

-I turned 18
-I finished my first year of my apprenticeship
-I started my second
-I redecorated my bedroom
-I cut my hair short
-I passed my TAFE assessments with flying colours
-4 Credits and 4 Distinctions
-I've grown in my relationship with God
-I was a bridesmaid for one of my best friends in August
-My brother is getting married

Whos a P-plater? I am, pick me!!!

I got my license!!! I am finally a P-plater!!! It took me three goes at the test, but I finally passed! Believe me those testing officers are mean...

So now I've been driving to work by myself this week and I'm loving the freedom that comes with owning a car and finally having the license to drive it!



My nan was the one who gave me the best advice about driving,"...just remember that everyone else out there is an idiot."



Thanks Nanny! I will definitely remember that! :D

3 months

Today is the end of my probationary period as an apprentice hairdresser! I'm not actually at work today seeing as it is a public holiday!!! But I have finished my three months all the same. Pretty much it means I can't drop out very easily now...and I start getting government bonuses!!!

So 3 months down....33 months to go! And then probably many years of washing, sweeping, cutting,colouring, sore feet, aching back, cramped hands and yucky fingernails! Ahh the joys!

This is a small excerpt from the classic 'Gone with the Wind', and one of the many arguments that Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara have. I'm reading this book for the second time but it is slow going as I don't get much time to read. It is one of my favorites and it keeps my chuckling to myself on every page by hilarious fights that these two famous characters have, every time they encounter each other.
I love books that make you think about a quote and then go..."that is so true." This happens to me all the time. You wouldn't think this could be found in a book like 'Gone with the Wind' but you might be surprised.
Anyway if you haven't read this classic I suggest you don't wait any longer!! You'll probably have to push your way through the first few chapters but it is a very entertaining read!

Working 9 to 5

Well, I started my new job last monday and have successfully made it through two weeks!! It's going very well and I'm slowly finding myself more comfortable there. Some things I like, and some things I don't. When I'm not learning anything new I find that the days kinda blend into one and become very much the same, so I look forward to the days I come home having accomplished something.
Today, I gave the other girl that works there, Jenny, a special hair treatment and a blowwave. I hadn't done a blowdry before so I learnt something new!
I'm really looking forward to going to TAFE. I know some of it will be hard and scary, but I'm hoping to meet new people and learn lots and lots.

Sorry I written forever, I have been working and only have Sunday and Tuesday off at the moment.

Grade 12 and Apprenticeships

I am so excited!


I just officially finished grade 12. This means no more school. Ever.

I don't remember the last time I was this happy. It's like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders that I've been carrying around for the last...12 years.

In other news, I recently acquired a hairdressing apprenticeship! I am very happy about that as well. She is a really lovely, christian lady named Elle, and she owns a beautiful salon. I don't think she is just your ordinary hairdresser either, as she does the hair for models on catwalks in Sydney and other big hair shows. Elle says I'll be able to come along as her assistant sometimes. How great is that!!


I think my apprenticeship was a big God thing! He just planned it so perfectly and it all fell into place and with a Christian lady at that!

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know how excited I am!
